Join Place Names Melville Project Coordinator, Noelene Mantellato, in an immersive experience showcasing stories from, and the methodology behind the Place Names process for Goolugatup Heathcote and Lowerlands.
City of Melville has been working in partnership with Community Arts Network(CAN) and Moodjar Consultancy delivering a community-led, creative model that decodes the ancient meaning embedded in Noongar placenames for sites located within the City of Melville including Goolugatup. The project aims to acknowledge shared meanings and reveal Aboriginal location names for sites across the City.

The program invites local artists to present a wide-ranging selection of art films, classics, and new wave cinema. Curated by iconic Boorloo film critic Tristan Fidler, the creator of the celebrated local VHS Tracking film zine, and hosted by Goolugatup Gallery monthly.
Goolugatup Heathcote is located on the shores of the Derbal Yerrigan, in the suburb of Applecross, just south of the centre of Boorloo Perth, WA. It is 10 minute drive from the CBD, the closest train station is Canning Bridge, and the closest bus route the 148.
