2/8/2023

A series of creative self-care workshops designed and facilitated by a qualified art therapist for self-expression and burnout prevention.

A series of creative self-careworkshops designed and facilitated by a qualified art therapist forself-expression and burnout prevention.

About this event

Having experienced burnout and compassion fatigue from working as a youth worker, now art therapist Cheryl Millard has designed a series of creative workshops that acknowledge and reward the challenges of working in the human services sector.

2nd August; Create your own self-care handmade journal. Using a variety of mixed media we will make our very own personalised journals and discuss the benefits of journalling for mental health and the many ways you can express yourself.

9th August; What do you want to weave more of in your life? We use weaving as a therapeutic practice to take a deeper look at the mindful practice of slowing down, practicing gratitude, and using creative self-expression for mental wellness.

16th August; Ready for a challenge? Create a unique china tea cup with a variety of sculptural materials as we look at we soothe ourselves in times of distress. Set to challenge you, this workshop will test us as we navigate the tricky waters of new materials and mediums!

23rd August; Experience Alchemical Art - an experimentation and self observation for inner exploration and creative development with our special guest star Talea. Here we will create a unique abstract expressive painting that reflects our inner selves to celebrate the end of the four weeks.

There are NO SKILLS required for any of these workshops. These workshops are NOT art therapy and the focus is on self-care in relation to challenging work environments. If you are experiencing financial hardship and work in the human services sector (youth work, mental health or other social services) please send us an email outlining your circumstances. hello@artjamwa.com.au

Held in the beautiful Mandoon Helena Building adjacent the clocktower at Goolugatup Heathcote.
