Swamped

MSAC

8 August - 25 October

Swamped is the third exhibition by the anonymous Naarm (Melbourne) based collective, MSAC, organised by AM Stuart. While the identities of MSAC members remains known only to few, it is believed that there are five core members—including two members convicted of art forgery in the early 2000s—who met in 2014 at the Cardwell UFO Festival in Cardwell, Queensland. Stuart was introduced to the work of MSAC through Japanese art historian Miki Okatsuka, with whom she presented Works from the Okatsuka Collection at TCB Art Inc. in Naarm in 2023, featuring a number of forged paintings by the collective. Swamped will include paintings, sculptures and drawings from the MSAC archive, as well as the first publication on the group, written by art historian and curator Doreen Landis-Lee.

AM Stuart is an artist based in Naarm / Melbourne, and a long-time collaborator with anonymous art collective MSAC.
