The Nature of Contingency

Fiona Harman and Steve Paraskos

6 August – 18 September

The Nature of Contingency draws on quantum theory and contemporary metaphysics to posit that worlds are best understood as telling us about the space of possibilities rather than telling us about actuality.

Using the motif of water from the river and ocean, the works explore ways we both attune to our habitat, and seek meaning beyond it. Sound and visuals respond to the fluent expanse of mercurial currents and watery forms. Through this, Fiona Harman and Steve Paraskos consider the Romantic possibilities of spooky-action-at-a-distance and metaphors of quantum entanglement.
